Christmas Lights Switch On 2014 - A Short Film.

A few days ago my University switched on their Christmas Lights on campus. This event is a popular time of the University calendar, where the concourse is packed with students, bands, and stalls. The stalls have Christmas foods, hot eateries, and artisan presents - perfect if you have not bought your Christmas presents yet (guilty as charged.)

I am part of my University's radio station this year, working in the tech team. So, I had the special privilege of standing on our group's platform overlooking the University grounds.
Our special guest this year was the head of the Ministry of Sound, who one of my University's alumni!

Here is my latest short film:

Music by Tom Misch - Dilla Love

After the Christmas Lights were switched on, I made a quick dash to a lecture given by Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP). The speaker was the Electronics Team Leader from Mercedes AMG, part of the Daimler AG company, who design and manufacture the engines of Formula 1 racing cars and hybrid engines for the Mercedes Petronas AMG team! The talk covered the history of Mercedes AMG, the engineering and teamwork required on their projects, and how students could apply for their engineering placements. I had a very nice talk with the speaker at the end discussing the feasibility of artificial intelligence in Formula 1 cars. Never would I have thought that in my life, that I would speak to an engineer who helps make Formula 1 engines about artificial intelligence whilst both of us ate pizza.

Christmas is around the corner, but University is not quite over. I have a few socials to go to. Notably, my University's Radio Station Christmas Dinner, my Lacrosse Christmas Ball, and others. Exams are coming up to, so I need to prepare for those. Until then, I am going to enjoy the rest of the semester!

Take Courage,

Olivia
